As participating providers with Medicare, we are required to adhere to their policies, procedures, and guidelines. Please know that we are eager to assist you with the repair of your device, however Medicare requires certain guidelines to be met prior to service.
For medical necessity purposes of repairs, Medicare guidelines require that your patient record contain documentation from your physician indicating that the item being repaired remains necessary and that the repair itself is necessary. This requirement is in addition to the physician prescription, as the prescription itself does not suffice.
In order to comply with this insurance requirement, you may need to schedule an appointment with your physician to acquire this documentation. If you have had a recent visit with your physician where you knowingly discussed the need for the repair, please notify us so that we may inquire with their office to see if the documentation supports Medicare guidelines.
As soon as our office obtains the required documentation, we can start your repair.
We apologize for this inconvenience, and should you have a complaint, we urge you to contact the Medicare Ombudsmen at 1-800-MEDICARE.
